Walt Disney was a popular American animator, film producer, and entrepreneur. Walt Disney was a pioneer of the American animation industry, who introduced several developments in the production of cartoons.

Early Life and Childhood

Walt Disney was born on December 5, 1901, in the city of Chicago, Illinois, United States, and his full name was Walter Elias Disney.

Similarly, he was American by nationality and Christian by religion. Moreover, he belonged to the Irish, German, and English ethnicity and his zodiac sign was Sagittarius.

He was born to a construction worker and entrepreneur Elias Disney (father) and a housewife Flora Call Disney (mother). Likewise, his siblings’ names were Raymond Arnold Disney, Ruth Flora Disney, Herbert Arthur Disney, and Roy O. Disney.

Death

Walt Disney died on December 15, 1966, in the city of California, United States at the age of 65 due to cancer. His remains were cremated two days later after his death and his ashes were buried at the Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Glendale, California.

In addition, he and his team introduced new cartoon characters such as Pluto in 1930, Goofy in 1932, and Donald Duck in 1934. In 1933, he produced The Three Little Pigs but later in 1934, he was tired of making formulaic cartoon shorts and thought a feature-length cartoon would be more profitable.

Furthermore, in the 1950s, he expanded into the amusement park industry, and in July 1955, he opened Disneyland in Anaheim, California. Moreover, to finance the project, he risked on television shows like Walt Disney’s Disneyland and The Mickey Mouse Club. Besides that, he also worked at many places like the Moscow World’s Fair in 1959, the Winter Olympics in 1960, and the New York World’s Fair in 1964.

In 1965, he also began work on another theme park, Disney World, called the “Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow” (EPCOT).  But before the park or the EPCOT project was completed he died of lung cancer in December 1966 as he smoked heavily throughout his life.

On September 14, 1964, in the United States, he was given the Presidential Medal of Freedom. Likewise, on May 24, 1968, he was given the Congressional Gold Medal.

Walt Disney married Lillian Bounds on July 13, 1925. Lillian is an ink artist by profession. They married in Lewiston, Idaho. Moreover, it was seen that they both were quite happy being a couple at that moment.
