In the fifth round of the 2013 MLB draft, he was selected by the Astros. Finally, he began the season with the Corpus Christi Hooks of the Class AA Texas League, in 2015.
Fortunately, he received a midseason promotion to the Fresno Grizzlies of the Class AAA Pacific Coast League. Also, he appeared in the 2015 All-Star Futures Game.
On May 16, he began the 2016 season with Fresno and was promoted to the major leagues. Additionally, on June 25, 2016, he was optioned to Fresno.
In addition, he was recalled to the Astros, on August 7, 2016. He and Jake Marisnick were platooned in centerfield. As a center fielder, Carlos Gomes was designated for assignment.
He was optioned back to Fresno, on March 19, 2017. Furthermore, the Astros promoted him to the major leagues, on April 27, 2017.
Thus, he replaced the injured Teoscar Hernández. The Astros optioned him back down as Marisnick, on May 1, 2017.

Likewise, he was called up to the Astros and played in their doubleheader against the Mets, on September 2, 2017.
It was their first home game after Hurricane Harvey. Eventually, he won the 2017 World Series, their first-ever championship title.
The Astros optioned Kemp back to Fresno, in March 2018. Similarly, he was called upon on May 16 to replace Jake Marisnick.
He received wide sports media coverage for making a leaping catch against the left-field wall on a ball hit. It was in the 3rd game of the 2018 ALCS.
Therefore, the Red Sox challenged the catch at the wall since it sounded like the ball hit the wall first. Later, they announced the catch as confirmed. He hit a fourth-inning solo home run off Rick Porcello, in the game.
The Astros designated Kemp for assignment to activate Carlos Correa, on July 26, 2019. With his career-high with 7 home runs in just 66 games, his 2019 season with the Astros ended.

Tony Kemp is married to his longtime girlfriend Michelle Kemp. The duo tied the wedding knot on November 9, 2017, at a dreamy ceremony in Montego Bay, Jamaica.
