Tim Blake Nelson is an actor and playwright from the United States. Tim Blake Nelson is well-known for his part as Wade Tillman/Looking Glass in the HBO limited series Watchmen (2019) and as Henry McCarty in Old Henry (2021).

Tim Blake Nelson was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma, United States on 11th May 1964. He is 59 years old (as of 2023) under the zodiac sign Taurus. Nelson holds an American nationality and follows the Christian religion.

Regarding his family background, he is the son of  Don Nelson (Father) and Ruth Nelson (Mother). His father is a wildcatter and geologist and his mother is a philanthropist and social activist. George Kaiser, a businessman, is his maternal uncle.

His maternal grandparents, Herman Geo. Kaiser and Kate Kaiser were German citizens who fled the Nazis just before World War II. Kate Kaiser is the daughter of entrepreneur Max Samuel. Nelson’s mother was born in Britain, so they relocated there in 1938 before emigrating to the US in 1941. His father came from an immigrant Russian-Jewish family.

Education

Regarding his educational background, Nelson is a 1982 Holland Hall School graduate from Tulsa and a 1986 graduate of Brown University, where he majored in classics and served as the senior orator for his graduating class. He pursued philosophical studies with Martha Nussbaum at Brown.

He is a Phi Beta Kappa Society member. The Workman/Driskoll Prize for Excellence in Classical Studies was given to him. He was a member of Group 19 when he graduated from Juilliard in 1990.

Audiobooks, At the Altar of Speed: The Fast Life and Tragic Death of Dale Earnhardt, Sr. was narrated by Nelson in 2001. He has also directed two of his original screenplays, Kansas (1998) and Leaves of Grass, as well as the motion picture adaptations of his plays The Grey Zone and Eye of God (2009).

He was the director of the Othello-based movie O, which was set in a contemporary high school.

Nelson received the original script for The Ballad of Buster Scruggs from Joel and Ethan Coen in 2002, and he played the title role in the western anthology film in 2018. After a brief run in theaters, the movie was released on Netflix on November 16. It received favorable reviews, many of which singled out Nelson’s performance and his entire segment.

For directing the motion picture adaptations of his plays Eye of God, he was nominated for a Someone to Watch Award by the Independent Spirit Awards.

He won the American Independent Award at the Seattle International Film Festival (1997) for Eye of God, the Tokyo Bronze Prize at the Tokyo International Film Festival (1997), the Best Director Award at the Seattle International Film Festival (2001) for O, and the Freedom of Expression Award (2002) from the National Board of Review for The Grey Zone.

Regarding his love life, Nelson is currently married to Lisa Benavides. After being together for a long time, Nelson and Lisa tied the wedding knot on June 12, 1994.

The pair met for the first time while studying at Juilliard. Together they were blessed with three children but their name is yet to be mentioned.
