Early Life and Childhood

Tiler Peck was born on January 12, 1989, in Bakersfield, California, U.S. Her age is currently 35 years old. However, there is no information about her parents and other family members. Peck began her education at the age of two at her mother’s Bakersfield dance school. She began her professional training in classical ballet at the age of seven, when Alla Khaniashvili, a former dancer with the Bolshoi Ballet, gave her private classes in Hollywood.

Later, in California, she started training with dancers Colleen and Patricia Neary from the New York City Ballet. She enrolled in the Westside School of Ballet in Santa Monica during this time, where she studied under the former principal of the New York City Ballet, Yvonne Mousey, and picked up the Balanchine method.

Ballet Career

Peck enrolled in the School of American Ballet for the winter term of 2000–2001 while appearing on Broadway in Susan Stroman’s revival of the Meredith Wilson musical The Music Man. She enrolled as a full-time student the next year beginning with the 2002 summer session.

She started working as an apprentice with New York City Ballet in September 2004. In February 2005, she was elevated to the corps de ballet, then in December 2006 to soloist, and finally in October 2009 to lead dancer.

Peck danced in front of President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama at the Kennedy Honors ceremony twice, in 2012 and 2014. She launched “Tiler Peck Designs” in 2014, her dance apparel line that Body Wrappers sells.

Along with her colleague Joaqun De Luz, she appeared at the Laguna Dance Festival the same year. To collaborate with her on her new musical, Little Dancer, Peck, and Susan Stroman reconnected in Washington, DC, in October of the same year.

At the NYCB, Peck has performed works by George Balanchine, Jerome Robbins, Susan Stroman, Christopher Wheeldon, and Justin Peck. She has played major roles in numerous productions, including Swan Lake, The Nutcracker, The Raymonda Variations, La Sylphide, Romeo and Juliet, Coppélia, The Sleeping Beauty, and Jewels.

Other Appearances

Peck has experimented with things outside of ballet, such as acting and musical theater. She took on the same role in the updated and retitled Marie, Dancing Still version of the musical Little Dancer in 2019. Additionally, she has participated in the Radio City Christmas Spectacular as Clara.

She has appeared in a few minor films. A Time for Dancing (2000), Geppetto (2000), Donnie Darko (2001), Catfish (2010), Enemy Within (2014), and Ballet 422, a documentary about choreographer Justin Peck’s creative process, are just a few of the films in which she has appeared. As a guest performer on Dancing with the Stars, she has performed on television. She appeared as Dewdrop in the Live from Lincoln Center production of “The Nutcracker” in 2011.

She returned to Lincoln Center in 2013 to reprise her role as Louise Bigelow in the PBS adaptation of Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Carousel. Peck made her debut as a ballerina on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” in 2017 by making an appearance. The 2018 documentary film Ballet Now, which was screened at the 2018 Seattle International Film Festival, centered on Peck. Peck played Sienna Milken in the 2020 season of the Netflix series Tiny Pretty Things.
