On September 25, 2020, at 1:04 p.m., her husband died in MGM Healthcare Hospital. On August 5, 2020, Balu was admitted to the hospital. After testing positive for COVID-19. Savithri also tested positive for COVID-19 on August 15, 2020. For further treatment, she was also admitted to the hospital.
On September 5, 2020, the couple celebrated their 51st wedding anniversary in the ICU wards. Moreover, she paid a visit to MGM Healthcare Hospital in Chennai. To the hospital where Balu was admitted. By following the safety measures, they celebrated their anniversary. They also cut the cake.
