The athlete Sandeep Kumar who once thought of being a professional wrestler is now representing his country as a racewalker. He already represented India in the Rio Olympics and also worked in the Tokyo Olympics along with other different competitions.
Early life
Sandeep Kumar was born on 1st May 1986, in Mahendragarh, Haryana, India. This makes him 37 years old as of the year 2024. There is not much information regarding the names of his parents in the public domain.
He is from a simple family as his father is a farmer and his mother is a housewife. According to astrology, his zodiac sign is Taurus and he follows Hinduism. Similarly, he holds an Indian nationality. He has yet to reveal his educational status.
Achievement
There are many achievements the athlete has won both in wrestling in his initial days and as a racewalker too. He won the gold medal at the Russian Championship in 1997 in wrestling. Similarly, he is also a 3-time winner of the Australian Asian Championships.

Later, he joined the Indian Army and served at Jat Regiment Centre. It was at this time that he developed an interest in racewalking. He dreamt of representing his country in this field in the Olympics and earning a medal in it.
Sandeep first participated in the IAFF World Race Walking Camp held in Taicang, China in 2014. He was successful in breaking the then-national record set by Basant Bahadur Rana in 50 50-kilometer racewalking event at the London Olympics 2012.
In the later year 2015, he participated in the World Championships in Athletics which was held in Beijing, China. He particularly competed in the 50 km walk event.
The streak continued with his participation in the Rio Olympics 2016. There he finished in 35th position. Similarly, he participated in the National Race Walking Championship in 2018. He has even managed to qualify for the Tokyo Olympics.
