Early Life

On the 29th of September 1971, Ray Buchanan was born in Chicago, Illinois, in the United States of America. In addition, he holds American nationality and he is 52 years old. During his time with the Colts, he recorded 11 interceptions and 1 touchdown. In 1996, he helped the Colts reach the playoffs for the first time since 1987. After the 1996 season, Buchanan signed with the Atlanta Falcons as a free agent.

Atlanta Falcons

He played for the Atlanta Falcons from 1997 to 2003, where he had the most successful and productive years of his NFL career. He was a starting cornerback for the Falcons for seven seasons and was known for his physical play, excellent coverage skills, and ability to create turnovers. During his time with the Falcons, Buchanan recorded 34 interceptions, 5.5 sacks, and 7 forced fumbles.
Moreover, he was also a key member of the Falcons’ defense that helped the team reach Super Bowl XXXIII in 1999, where they ultimately lost to the Denver Broncos. He earned three Pro Bowl selections and two All-Pro honors during his time with the Falcons.

Oakland Raiders

Buchanan played his final season in the NFL with the Oakland Raiders in 2004. He signed with the Raiders as a free agent but played in only 10 games due to injuries, recording 1 interception and 2 passes defended. After the 2004 season, he announced his retirement from professional football.

Although his time with the Raiders was short-lived, he had a distinguished career as a cornerback, earning three Pro Bowl selections and two All-Pro honors during his 12-year career in the NFL.
