Professional Career

When Odessa Young was at the age of 11, she started her acting career. In the 2009 Australian children’s television drama series “My Place” she made her television debut playing the role of Alexandra Owen in an episode. Afterward, she starred in television series such as “Tricky Business” (2012), “The Moodys” (2014), and “Wonderland” (2015).

She made her big screen debut in the 2015 Australian drama film “The Daughter” playing Hedvig Finch, co-starred along with Geoffrey Rush and Sam Neill. That same year, she starred alongside Radha Mitchell in the drama film “Looking for Grace.”

For her performance in both movies, she has collected several awards and nominations. In the movie, she played the titular role. The following year, she was named “Australia’s brightest rising star” by Elle Magazine.

She started in the 2016 female lead in “When The Street Lights Go On” on Hulu. In 2017, she played the role of Maggie Russell in the neo-noir thriller film “Sweet Virginia.”

That same year, starred as Genevieve in the web series “High Life” and for her performance, she won an International Academy of Web Television Award for Best Lead Actress – Drama.

In 2019, she starred as Charlotte in the American mystery crime thriller film “The Giant.” She was cast as Frannie Goldsmith in the 2020 miniseries “The Stand.” The same year, she plays Rose Nemser/Paula in the American biographical drama film “Shirley.”

She also participated in Acting for a Cause, a live classic play and screenplay reading series created, directed, and produced by Brando Crawford. In addition, she played Lady Prism in The Importance of Being Earnest by Oscar Wilde. She was also cast in the 2021 British film “Mothering Sunday” playing the role of Jane Fairchild.

In the 2022 American biographical drama streaming television  miniseries “The Staircase.” Moreover, she is currently working on two upcoming movie projects “Manodrome” (2023) and “The Prima Donna”, one in post-production and another in Pre-production at the moment.
