Professional Career

Early career

At Mount Union in Alliance, Ohio, a Division III school, Nick Sirianni played as a wide receiver. As a sophomore, a calf injury and compartment syndrome almost put an end to his playing career.

He finished his senior year with 998 yards and 13 touchdowns and a degree in education. He participated in one season of the American Indoor Football League competition for Canton Legends.

Coaching career

He started his coaching career as the defensive backs coach at his alma college, Mount Union. He then moved on to the Indiana University of Pennsylvania, where he coached wide receivers.

After getting an interview with new Chiefs head coach Todd Haley through a friend, he made the transition to the NFL in 2009.

He had met Haley while attending the same YMCA in college, and Todd was a wide receivers coach with the Chicago Bears. Todd appointed Nick to the role of offensive quality control coach.

He was hired by new coach Romeo Crennel and promoted to wide receivers coach during Romeo’s only season as Chiefs head coach. Andy Reid, the new head coach, did not keep him.

When Mike McCoy was named as the team’s head coach in 2013, he joined the San Diego Chargers.

He was hired as the team’s quarterbacks coach in 2014, then two years later, he was hired as the wide receivers coach. In 2018, he joined Frank Reich’s staff with the Indianapolis Colts to hold the place of offensive coordinator for the franchise.

In San Diego, he had previously collaborated with Reich.

After Doug Pederson was fired on January 24, 2021, Nick was brought on as the head coach of the Philadelphia Eagles. He took over as head coach for the Philadelphia Eagles against the Atlanta Falcons on September 12, 2021, and guided them to a 32-6 win.

After experiencing symptoms on December 22, he was put into COVID protocols and released from them on December 25. With a 9-8 record and a wild-card berth at the end of his first season in charge, the Eagles fell to the Super Bowl champion Tampa Bay Buccaneers 15-31.

In addition, he became the first Eagles head coach to reach the playoffs in their first campaign since Ray Rhodes in 1995 (and just the second in the team’s history).
