Talking about his career, Carter left college to work as a Nike field representative while completing his internship there. Since 2006, he has been James’ business manager.
Carter is one of the founders and principals of the agent and sports marketing firm LRMR, along with Rich Paul, James, and Randy Mims. Carter was in charge of creating the television special The Decision.
Carter helped LRMR and Fenway Sports Group reach a transaction that gave James a portion of Liverpool F.C. and raised his international visibility. He also created the James caricature-based LeBron series of advertisements.

Further, SpringHill Entertainment, a Warner Bros. collaborator, was founded by him and James. Its projects include Space Jam: A New Legacy, the Starz series Survivor’s Remorse, the NBC game show The Wall, the Disney XD series Becoming, and the Bleacher Report spinoff Uninterrupted.
Carter and James made a contract in 2021 through which they each received a portion of the Boston Red Sox ownership. Together with James and Drake, he served as an executive producer for Hubert Davis’s 2022 documentary Black Ice.
