Professionally, Lily Rabe is an actress. She played Sister Mary Eunice in the thriller drama American Horror Story: Asylum. For this film, she worked alongside Jessica Lange. She debuted in the 2001 film Never Again as Tess. Likewise, she also played Portia in a production of The Merchant of Venice. For this, she worked alongside Al Pacino in Central Park in New York City. Furthermore, she was also in the film Mona Lisa Smile with Julia Roberts. Besides these, she made her professional theatre debut with Speaking Well of the Dead working alongside her mother, Jill Clayburgh. This was Israel Horovitz’s Gloucester Stage Company’s production. Following her graduation, Lily moved to New York and initially focused on theater. She appeared in the play White Jesus by the Naked Angels Theater Company and also participated in a workshop production of the play The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas by the Roundabout Theatre Company.

Moreover, she made her Broadway debut with the 2005 revival of Steel Magnolias by Robert Harling and was nominated for a “Drama Desk Award” for her performance in this film.
