Corcoran’s mother, Kathleen McKenney, was a native of Quincy, Massachusetts, like her husband. Kevin Corcoran had a total of seven siblings, Donna Corcoran, Noreen Corcoran, Hugh Corcoran, Brian Corcoran, Kerry Corcoran, and Kelly Corcoran.

Another brother Bill Corcoran Jr. died in 2007. Donna, Noreen, and Hugh Corcoran had extensive film and television credits as children in the 1950s.

At the age of sixty, Corcoran was diagnosed with colorectal cancer. On October 6, 2015, he died of this illness at the age of 66. The Neptune Society cremated his remains, and his ashes were scattered into the Pacific Ocean ten days later.

His father was played by character actor Russ Conway. Moochie prefers to hang out with the older “guys” (big brother Wilby in The Shaggy Dog, the title characters in Spin and Marty) and despises being treated like a child.

Moochie’s determination to imitate elder peers despite adult warnings (swimming, assisting Wilby, even switch-hitting) frequently gets him in trouble, but Moochie’s confidence always returns soon after.

Also, Kevin Corcoran and Tommy Kirk played brothers in five films, beginning with 1957’s Old Yeller, and Kevin was always a rambunctious animal lover who tried to catch and befriend various animals, ranging from cuddly puppies to dangerous animals such as tigers and bears.
