In the year 2016, Kang Ha-neul starred in the black and white biographical period film Dongju: The Portrait of a Poet. In this project, he played the titular role of poet Yun Dong-ju. This project won him a “Best Actor” nomination at the 25th Buil Film Awards and 4th Wildflower Film Awards.
