Actor Ji received surgery for acute osteomyelitis on 13 September 2016. Osteomyelitis is an inflammation of bone or bone marrow, usually due to infection. Then on 27 September, the actor returned to filming Fantastic. He was officially discharged from the hospital on 1 October.

Similarly, the actor is also part of a celebrity group of friends known as BYH48. It consists of EXO’s Suho, Ryu Jun-year, Byun Yo-han, Lee Dong-hoi, and more. Their fans coined the name BYH48.
