When she was a young girl, her elder sisters Jamila and Miyoko had already begun their musical careers. Talking about her professional career, Jhene Aiko began her musical career after becoming a part of the band B2K and signed with Epic Music at the age of 12.

In 2002, she sang for B2K’s debut video album ‘Uh Huh’ and also won the ‘BET Award for Viewer’s Choice.’ She planned to release her debut musical album,’ My Name is Jhene,’ through Sony, The Ultimate Group, and Epic.

Her second album, Trip was released without a prior announcement on September 22, 2017. She co-directed a 23-minute autobiographical film titled Trip, after the album was also released a day before Trip on September 21, 2017.
