Unfortunately, less than two weeks after he released his 2nd mixtape, Pop Smoke was murdered during a home invasion. It was on 19 February 2020 when the rapper rented a house in Hollywood Hills, California. The house’s owners were Teddi Mellencamp and Edwin Arroyave.
Then around 4:30 a.m., 4 hooded men broke into the house. These men shot Pop Smoke in the chest two times. One of the men wore a ski mask and carried a handgun. Someone called the LAPD and shared the news of the home invasion. Police arrived at the home six minutes later. The police found Pop Smoke with multiple gunshot wounds.
Immediately, the police rushed the wounded rapper to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. At the medical center, medical practitioners performed a thoracotomy on the left side of the late rapper’s chest. However, a few hours later, the doctors pronounced him dead at the age of 20 years old.
