Jared Knabenbauer is an American Comedic video game reviewer and player popular as ProJared. Jared Knabenbauer posts basic reviews in addition to the annual top ten list videos. He also owns a second Youtube channel where he shares gameplay videos.

Jared Knabenbauer was born in Green BayWisconsin, United States, on August 28, 1985. He is 36 years old and his birth sign is Virgo. He holds the American nationality.

The name and information of his parents are not available at the moment. However, he has a younger twin brother whose name is Derek. Derek is also a Youtuber and is popular on YouTube as DKlarations. Jared Knabenbauer worked as a GameStop Assistant Store Manager from the year 2004 to 2009. ScrewAttack hired him as the Game Attack manager until 2011 when ScrewAttack formally hired him into their team. And, along with his colleagues wrote, acted, and edited the Nametags series at ScrewAttack. It is his first big break online.

Likewise, he was also a host on Hard News and a co-host on SideScrollers, as well as a writer for Video Game Vault and Top Tens. his final major project at ScrewAttack was writing and acting in the Newsroom. He also a cameo appearance on the first episode of Nickelodeon’s Game Shakers in the year 2015.

Knabenbauer started his career on YouTube in 2010 with his Two Worlds video. And, he later explained that he began posting videos because he wanted to make fun of Two Worlds and he felt he could make better game reviews than other people. Then, after he left ScrewAttack, he continued to produce his own content on his YouTube channel, starting with ProReviews and eventually One Minute Reviews and Nuzlocke. His channel’s name is “Projared”.

Knabenbauer was even featured in an improv comedy group known as “Comedy City” using a similar style to Whose Line Is It Anyway. He still continues to do improv to this day, showing some of it in his videos. In early 2014, he joined NormalBoots which is a group of YouTube content creators that also included JonTron, PeanutButterGamer, and The Completionist, all of whom he had worked with before. Likewise, in the year 2016, he joined Holly Conrad, Chris Perkins, NateWantsToBattle, and Anne Prosser Robinson on an official Dungeons & Dragons YouTube series called Dice, Camera, Action!.

He is also an actor and writer, known for ProJared in the year 2010,  Saturn Patrol in 2005 and Minecraft Hardcore in 2012. And, his show is part of the network Normal Boots as well and Jon Jafari runs it. He has appeared as a guest on Table Flip and was the first guest on Grumpcade.

He owns two Youtube channel at the moment. His main Youtube channel “ProJared” has contents regarding heavy emphasis on RPG games, such as Final Fantasy and Chrono Trigger, especially from the NES/SNES era. But he also goes beyond just video games and he also loves to talk about tabletop gaming, such as dungeons and dragons or card games like Magic: The Gathering.

Likewise, he likes to focus on games that he has a personal connection to and the things that he has played in his childhood or one that has resonated with him ever since he played it. He tries his best to focus on positive aspects and games that are good. The second of he is “ProJared Plays!”. He shares playthroughs of a lot of games he has done videos on his main Youtube channel. He launched this channel in the year 2014.

Adultery, Solicitation of Nudes and Backlash

Knabenbauer tweeted on Twitter that he and his wife Heldi were getting a divorce on May 8, 2019. He faced a large amount of backlash because Heldi tweeted that she recently found out that he had been cheating on Heldi with more than one other person. He also faced more controversy on the same day due to being accused of soliciting sexually explicit photos of underage fans on Tumbler and Snapchat.

Two of his fans then started posting allegations of impropriety by him. Both of them claimed they were underaged at the time and that he knew this. Then, the next day Normal Boots released a statement confirming that he was no longer part of the group. And, on May 17, 2019, he released another statement on Twitter where he claimed that he and his wife were in an open polyamorous relationship with both of them having partners on the side, which he also claimed Heidi had.

His wife, Heidi then countered with a series of tweets saying that they had indeed attempted polyamory at one point, but she had “shut it down” later on due to his lack of transparency regarding the relationship with colleague Holly Conrad. Likewise, the resulting backlash from these events caused him to lose more than 20% of his subscribers over the course of just a few days.


On August 27, 2019, Knabenbauer posted a video on his YouTube channel after a long absence from the Internet, “YOU’VE BEEN LIED TO”. In that video, he provides evidence against the claims that he solicited nudes from minors, showing that both of the allegations were unsubstantiated and could not have taken place. He also states he didn’t know that the two girls were under 18 at the time and that they didn’t tell him about their exact age.

He even reaffirms that he never cheated on Heidi and that he was already attempting to divorce her as early as October 2018. Likewise, this video resulted in a significant increase in support for him and his channel, with him gaining back many subscribers. Moreover, he was one of only three non-Game Grumps to have his own “Grump Head” before the controversy.

Relationship Status

Jared Knabenbauer married cosplay artist Heidi O’Ferrall. But the two filed for divorce in the year 2019. Their relationship ended in a terrible way so, they are no longer friends as well. However, he is possibly single at the moment. He is more focused on his career and Youtube rather than being in any relationship.
