Early life
Iman Shumpert was born on 26th June 1990, in Berwyn, Illinois, USA. His birth name is Iman Asante Shumpert. As of now, Iman is 31 years old and he holds African-American ethnicity. In February 2012, Iman Shumpert started his NBA career with the New York Knicks but in 2012 April, he suffered several knee injuries early on and missed the rest of the first season. Thus, Iman came 5th in the 2012 NBA Rookie of the Year voting with a total of 33 votes. In 2013, he was allowed to participate in team practice. On January 17, he played against Detroit Pistons in London as the first season’s first debut. Sadly, on 12 January 2014, Shumpert dislocated his left shoulder and was ruled out of the team for 3 weeks.
Likewise, on 25 January 2015, he was traded by the Cleveland Cavaliers. He signed a four-year contract with $40 million with the Cavaliers on 9th July 2015. And, he helped the Cavaliers to reach the NBA finals. Despite a knee injury, he helped the Cavaliers reach the NBA Finals once again after reaching it last season in 2016. Despite the Cavaliers going down 3-1 in the series following a Game 4 loss, Iman and his team won the series in seven games and became the first team in NBA history to win the championship after being down 3-1.
In 2017, the basketball player led the team to the NBA finals for the third straight season but he lost the finals to the Golden State Warriors. Later in 2018, Iman signed with the Sacramento Kings and has recently played for them. Moreover, he played more than 385 games in his entire basketball career. And, in 2008, he was in the McDonald’s All-American, and ACC All-Freshman Team in 2009. Along with this, he is interested in rap music. Also, in 2012, he released his first song ‘Knicks Anthem’.
