Fritz Balogh

Career and Professional Life

Fritz Balogh started at 13 years old in 1933 and founded the German Sports Club Bratislava playing football. For the 1939/40 season, he moved up to the first team. For that, he was in the City League Bratislava disputed point games at the end of the season the German Cup Carpathian won and represented the club later in the city selection. During the Second World War, he ended up in the German capital. He initially was in the game for Hertha BSC for the third team but was soon “promoted” to the first. For Berlin, he played in. Fritz Balogh also played three games in the final round of the 1944 German Championship Gauliga Berlin-Brandenburg – one of initially 16 and later 23 spiked Gauligen the era of National Socialism as a uniform and highest league in the German Reich – 19 point games in which he scored 22 goals. In the 1942/43 round, he took third place with Hertha BSC in the Gauliga Brandenburg and is noted with 16 appearances and 20 goals. He scored two goals. During the summer of 1946, he was temporarily active with Phönix Ludwigshafen and – at the beginning of the 1946/47 season – with VfB Neunkirchen, but returned to Neckarau in the current season and was the second-best league scorer there with 32 goals – behind Hans Pöschl and ahead of Max Morlock (both 1. FC Nürnberg).

Fritz Balogh was loyal to the club for family reasons, even to the second-class national league at the end of the 1947/48 season and u. a. the VfB Mühlburg. The FSV Frankfurt around him tried as a prolific player. He contributed before the 1950/51 season to return to the Oberliga Süd. It was one of the five highest German leagues at the time. During his club membership from 1945 to 1951, he scored 66 goals in 96-point games for VfL Neckarau. On November 22, 1950, he was in the senior national team’s first international match after World War II.
