Early Life
Dr Mike’s age is 34 years old. He was born on November 12, 1989, in his birthplace, Saransk, Soviet Union. His birth name is Mikhail Varshavski. He is of Jewish descent and holds an American nationality.
Likewise, his father worked as a physician, while his mother worked as a mathematics professor. He along with his parents relocated to Brooklyn, New York City, USA at the age of five.
After relocating to Brooklyn, his father had to attend medical school since his degree from the Soviet Union was not valid in America, while his mother took up a job sweeping floors. He also has an elder sister, Dasha, and nephews named Daniel, Steven, and Ari.
Amidst his family’s financial struggles, he grew up along with his siblings. The family used to stay in a one-bedroom apartment and struggled even to make ends meet.
For him, buying a bag of chips was also not always easy as he had to argue with his parents even for a quarter. Since he decided to become a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) early in his life.
During his childhood days, he was exposed to osteopathic medicine as his father went to osteopathic medical school.
He also was overwhelmed with his father’s ability to use ‘Osteopathic Manipulative Treatment (OMT) to provide relief for his patients.
On his first few days in the US, he did not even speak any other language other than Russian.
On the first day of school, he responded to all his teacher’s questions with the words ‘yes,’ ‘no,’ and ‘maybe’ until his teacher recognized that he couldn’t speak English.

Education
While moving to high school, his friends used to call him ‘Dr. Mike and him with sports-related injuries as they knew that his father was a physician.
After finishing high school, he went to the ‘New York Institute of Technology from where he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in life sciences.
He even attended an accelerated seven-year program in a medical school for a professional doctoral degree.
He visited Israel along with his friends while studying. On one particular night, he decided to sleep in the desert with his friends where the Bedouin monks had set up their camps.
Due to his concern and lack of sleep, he started wandering beyond the campsite only to be driven back to the camp as the locals did not relish his gesture.

His mother expired due to leukemia during his first year at medical school.
At that time, he was living alone and returned to his father’s home to help him cope with the loss. His father’s primary struggles and ultimate success inspired him to achieve his goals.
