Early Life and Childhood
As of now, Dave’s age is 59 years old. He was born on September 26, 1964, in Brooklyn, New York. His parents are Ernesto Martinez (father) and Lilly Martinez (mother). Dave grew up with three siblings and was the oldest child. He has two twin siblings named Ernie and Eric Martinez and a sister Millie LaBorde.

David Martinez is a former baseball player who played in Major League Baseball(MLB). Currently, he is serving as the manager of the Washington Nationals. He is a professional baseball coach and even served as the bench coach for the Rays. He played in some of the MLB teams which are the Chicago White Sox, Toronto Blue Jays, Cincinnati Reds, Atlanta Braves, and San Francisco Giants as their outfielder.
In 1983 he was selected by the Chicago Cubs for Major League Baseball draft and also for the New York-Penn League Class A-Short Season Geneva Cubs. In the 1984 season with Quad Cities, he began with Quad Cities and received a promotion to the Winston-Salem Spirits of the Class A-Advance Carolina League.
He was promoted by the Cubs to the major league on 15th June 1986. Likewise, he had a .119 batting average (8-for-67) before he was selected back to the minor leagues in August. He was pegged as a platoon player in Montreal. He retired from the playing career after playing 1919 games with a .276 career batting average, 1,599 hits, 91 home runs, 795 runs scored, and 580 RBIs.
Coaching Career
Likewise, he ended his playing career in 2002 with the Atlanta Braves, and he began his coaching career in 2006 with the Tampa Bay Rays.
After his retirement, the Washington Nationals selected him for the open managerial job. He signed a three-year contract for the 2018 season with a club option for the 2021 season on 30th October 2017. Similarly, In 2016 he won the World Series championship.
